September 1 was a beautiful, sunny day for the Nelson Pride Parade that started from the SD8 district office and Wildflower Nelson School parking lot, and wended its way along Stanley Street to Victoria Street and through downtown Nelson.

The School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) Board of Education unanimously approved the annual budget for the 2024-2025 school year at its public meeting on the evening of May 14.

The Bamfield Marine Science Centre (BMSC), located on the southwest coast of Vancouver Island, hosted a unique week-long Marine Program for students in grades 11 and 12 who are visually impaired. This program, which took place between April 8-12, 2024, aimed to provide an accessible and place-based learning experience through authentic field and research opportunities.

School District No. 8 (Kootenay Lake) has delivered over 78 food hampers for students and families across seven school communities in the past two months, providing fresh fruit, vegetables, pastas, bread, yoghurt, meat and cheese from spring break through to May thanks to provincial funding from Feeding Futures.
